Song Suggestions

We're on a chemo-countodown, here folks...

I'm trying to load my IPod with inspirational and fun/uplifting songs to listen to during chemo treatments. I need suggestions.

I want:
-songs with lyrics about God's love, healing, miracles
-songs with a good beat
Or
-classic songs (songs you'd hear at a wedding that are all-around crowd pleasers. Brown-Eyed Girl, Sweet Caroline, etc.)

Leave your suggestions in my comments section or you can email me. Best song suggestion wins a prize!!

  1. Our choir is doing the concert "My Utmost for His Highest" from Oswald Chambers' devotional book. We have the "professional" soundtrack that my husband has been listening to to prepare for the choir presentation and it is AWESOME! We'll somehow get the entire thing to you - the narration and choir selections are incredible!

  2. my newest favorite song is called "What I've Overcome" by fireflight...it's AWESOME! Actually, every song that I've heard by Fireflight I like. Check out this video by them: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=pWRJAHaOrYg You should listen and see if that's your kind of music. I have two of their CD's if you want to borrow them.

  4. I have been "out" of the Christian music scene for almost 5 years but I have recently come back in because our church has just started a new experiential worship (I know WAY behind the times). My new favorite (as in THIS week) band is Gungor. We sang "Beautiful Things" tonight. The song lives up to it's title. If you like folkie/indie type of a sound then you may want to check out their whole CD. It sounds like every song is meant for you! With lyrics "you make me new" "only you can lift up my head" "the promise of a brighter day" "please be my strength". Check them out on youtube!

  5. "Healing is in Your Hands" by Christy Nockles on the Passion:Awakening 2010 album. It's amazing. The whole album is amazing! Also "With Everything" on the same album by Hillsong United.

  7. I can go on and on with Christian music suggestions, but I am sure you know most of those so I wanted to go a different route. These two songs we sing to our kids regularly: "Here Comes the Sun" The Beatles and "3 Little Birds" Bob Marley. Not Christian, but a good message.

  8. I am sure I should suggest a wonderful Christian song but sometimes you just have to go funky. So, my suggestion is Beat It by Michael Jackson. Great lyrics as you continue your battle. And, the rhythm? Well, you can't "beat it" (sorry, couldn't resist).

  9. I recommend Sufjan Stevens' version of "Come Thou Fount of Every Blessing" -- the closing song in the season premiere of Friday Night Lights. Of course it is a beautiful song, and his version of it is stripped down and so peaceful and uplifting. I bought it from itunes immediately after the show.
